Background Information:

Nuba Mountains as known also by South Kordofan state is in the south of Republic of the Sudan. People in Nuba Mountains have experienced half peace between the government of Sudan and SPLA/ M when both signed the cease fire agreement at that time in year 2002. Later on it was followed by the signing CPA in the year 2005, during these years Nuba people enjoyed that peace in which they again found themselves in another continuing war up to now.

However, the situation of the people become very difficult when the war spread out in 2011 in Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile between the government and the SPLA/ N. Most of the areas in the South Kordofan are controlled by the SPLA/ N, and that let the Diocese of Kadugli to divide into two parts, in which some churches fall on the government side and the other fall in the SPLA/ N areas.

Problem Statement:

As a result of these 4 years of civil war in Sudan, the Nuba people are facing many problems and the most critical of priority are MEDICINE and FOOD The government of Sudan expelled and banned all humanitarian agencies and all NGOs working in Sudan to leave the country. From that period Nuba people experiencing imaginable suffering of food and medicine. Many NGOs have tried to close the gap in services during the war, it would absolutely be unreasonable for these services to cease after peace is realized.

The need for basic food and medicine are the crisis in Nuba Mountains region specially medicine is exacerbated by more than 4 years of civil war. The war has severely paralyzed social, human activities and other resources are also depleted. The humanitarian sector suffered the biggest blow, as it has been weak even prior to break out of the civil war in the region.

Nuba people are experiencing the daily bombardments from the government Sudan and this let many citizen to run and hide themselves in carves, holes, valleys and in streams. the Nuba people are known as farmers and they cultivate their lands during the rain seasons but because of these bombardments, they do not be able to practice their daily activities. So, peace is the only hope for a country that lagged behind in development for three decades because of war. The same applies to the regions that were directly involved in war.

Problem Justification:

The humanitarian project of the food and medicine for the people of Nuba Mountains is of the efforts of helping the many women, children and disabled people who were denied the basic services from their government and even the international community and bodies are just watching silently without any word or to intervene to solve or stop the ongoing suffering of the Nuba people. Supporting these venerable people with the relief food and medicine will save many lives of Nuba people in South Kordofan. The current wars are unreliable and poses risks to the children and mothers as well as puts unnecessary and poorly health. We wish through implementing the humanitarian project to improve the quality service given to the beneficiaries.

The Impact of the Conflict:

Having heard concern from various reports of the magnitude of the suffering and the plight of our people; as a result of this political crisis, we believe that the conflict has not only caused tragedy, but created a black mark in the life of our country and lack of trust.
